13 No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it,[a] but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.
Colossians 1:29 (NLT)
29 That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me.
Are You Committed?
We are now well into the New Year. This is the time that the gyms and the health clubs, will start to see who’s really committed to reaching their goals and who’s not.
Commitment requires going the distance and hanging in there until the very end.
When it comes to getting healthy, it means rising early to exercise and doing food prep on days when it would be easier to drive through for fast food. It means saying no to the extra cookie, or the extra helping at the dinner table. It means staying true to your commitment until the goal is accomplished, no matter how difficult or how long. Our walk with God requires that same level of commitment. Thank God that during those times when we get off track He forgives us and we get to restart again. The New Year gives us a fresh start and another opportunity to get it right.
I don’t know if you have resolved to make any spiritual goals this year or not, but if you haven’t yet, we are still in the New Year, and you still have time. This would be the perfect time to take a moment to do an evaluation of the heart and to commit to being more intentional and purposeful with your walk with God as wells the other areas of your life this year.
It is also a great time to mend broken fences among friends and relatives.
If you have been offended by someone or if you have offended someone that you love, and you haven’t been able to release the hurt, this is a great time to release and forgive so that you can start your New Year baggage free.
It is a great time to commit to spending more time with God just listening as He speaks to you through His word. Carve out ten or fifteen minutes from your schedule each day to just be still.
The New Year is always a great time to recommit and to reconnect with ourselves and with our God. It is a time of renewal. It is a time to release the old and to joyfully look forward to the new.
I don’t know about you, but I am excited about all of the New things that God is going to do in my life in 2019. I am fully expecting great things to transpire this year. I am hopeful and eager to see all of the miraculous things God will do this year. I can’t wait to see the mountains that He will move and the seas that he will part on my behalf, and I know that if you have relentless faith He will do the same for you.
Faith, prayer, praise, and obedience are the secret weapons that will reveal and prove your commitment to God. They are also the secret weapons that move God to work divinely on your behalf.
2019 will be your best year ever as you move forward in abundant faith, trusting in God’s power to do mighty things.
So, are you committed to a year of walking more closely with God? I certainly am, and I hope that you are as well.
I have no doubt that as we commit to this, He will pour wisdom into our souls, and He will light our paths so that we may see how to be a blessing to others.
What joy it will be at the end of this year, to share with others how we got to see Him show up powerfully time after time and bless us beyond our greatest expectations.
Remember, we serve a God he is more than able, He is also willing!
Have a fantastic New Year and may you be blessed at every turn!
Romans 12:1-2 (NLT)
12 And so, dear brothers and sisters,[a] I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.[b] 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
2 Timothy 4:7 (NLT)
7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have remained faithful.
