“Don’t Leave God The Crumbs: Are You Giving Him Your Leftovers?

Mark 1:35

³⁵And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.

Psalm 5:3

³O Lord, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you^[a] and watch.

Matthew 6:33

³³But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Have you ever been guilty of getting to the end of your day, only to remember that you have not spent one minute with God? In full transparency, I have certainly been guilty of giving God the leftovers of my day.

I guess for us to put this thing into perspective, I would like for you to look at your twenty four hour day as one big pie cut into twenty four slices. This would essentially equate to one slice representing each hour of our day. So with that in mind, are we really so busy that we can’t share one slice of our pie with the Creator of the universe who blessed us with the pie in the first place.

Crumbs hardly sound significant enough for the One who has blessed us with everything. Not just our time, but our health and strength as well as daily providing all that is required to sustain us. Not to mention the fact that He has even given His Son as a ransom for us, because we could not save ourselves. There is literally not one thing that He has not provided for us.

So let me encourage you to not look at your time as yours alone, but as a gift that must be shared out of gratitude and reverence back to the Giver. Make the decision to give God the best part of your day. Give Him the first fruits of your day. When you give God the first slice of your day, you will always have time for everything else you need to do.

So no crumbs please, for the King of King and the Lord of Lords. He is worthy of our best and He is worthy of our praise. He deserves so much more than the leftovers of our day!
