On a Friday morning four weeks ago, my husband called me from a local store in our area where he had gone in to pick up a prescription for me. He said that he just didn’t feel well and that he was having a burning feeling in his chest like heartburn. He also said that he only felt the burning sensation when he was walking or moving. He told me he was on his way home and that he would see me soon.
Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NIV)
1 There is a time for everything,
and a season for every activity under the heavens:
2 a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3 a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,

In a wonderful and tender comic strip in the Houston Newspaper called Family Circus a father has one arm around his little daughter named Dollie who is sitting close to him. She says to him, “Sometimes when you hurt inside, the only medicine that’ll help is a great big hug.”
When I first started preaching as a young man in churches of Christ (at least where I was) we never hugged one another, and certainly never gave someone a “holy kiss,” (Romans 16:16).
