1 I will praise the Lord at all times. I will constantly speak his praises.
2 I will boast only in the Lord; let all who are helpless take heart.
3 Come, let us tell of the Lord’s greatness; let us exalt his name together.

How often during your day or even your week, do you take a few minutes to acknowledge how great our God is?  Even better yet, how often do you go to Him, just to praise Him, not seeking or asking for anything of Him in return. To be quite honest, I started keeping a gratitude journal years ago, because I thought that I needed to be more purposeful about expressing my gratitude to God.  I found that I was asking and requesting a lot more than I was expressing my praise and gratitude to God.  Making this a habit was huge for me because it also changed my prayer life and praise became something that was done more freely and frequently.

I found that a great praise session was like medicine for my soul.  My favorite thing to do is to start my day reading my bible, journaling and singing praises to God. I absolutely cherish mornings of uninterrupted time with God.  If you have not made this a habit, you have absolutely got to give it a try. It will change your life also.

True praise is where for a few moments you lay aside all of your concerns for your own needs, hopes, dreams, and desires, and you focus totally on how awesome God is.  For those few moments you are expressing your complete awe of Him, and you acknowledge His many magnificent attributes.  You also express your gratitude for how He is working in your life, and for all of the things that He is yet to do.

Praising God is about Him. It is your acknowledgment of His supreme authority in your life.   It is the surrendering of yourself in praise to Him, and thus it becomes your praise offering to Him. This praise offering is a great entrance into a time of sacred worship, that brings honor and glory to our King. Our praise and worship is something that He is so worthy of.

More than anything else that we could possibly do, when we praise God we are fulfilling the purpose that we were created for. We were created to bring God glory, and sincere praise brings God glory.

Although praising God is about Him, we also reap blessings from the praise experience. One of those blessings is the victory over the wiles of the enemy.  Our praise to God is a spiritual weapon that defeats the enemy. Spiritual battles must be fought with spiritual weapons, and prayer and praise are our spiritual weapons.  Praise will defeat the enemy.

Psalm 8:2 (NLY)
You have taught children and infants to tell of your strength,[asilencing your enemies and all who oppose you.
Psalm 18:3  (NLT)
I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and he saved me from my enemies.
Psalm 66:1-3  (NLT)
Shout joyful praises to God, all the earth!
Sing about the glory of his name! Tell the world how glorious he is.
Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! Your enemies cringe before your mighty power.

When we praise God, our thoughts get back into alignment with His and our perspective of our circumstances change in light of His eternal purposes, not earthly ones. Praising God also renews our hope for a better future.  After praising God, we once again feeling refreshed and encouraged. Our praises bless God, and they rejuvenate and lift our spirits.  Praising God refreshes our souls.  It also reminds us that apart from Him we can do nothing. It is only by His wonderful grace and mercy that we even exist.   Be very clear, if He had never done a thing for us, He would still be worthy of all of our praise because He is God!

Why not take a moment to give Him a praise offering today, He is worthy!
