Psalm 145:15-20 (NLT)
15 The eyes of all look to you in hope; you give them their food as they need it.
16 When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing.
17 The Lord is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness.
18 The Lord is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth.
19 He grants the desires of those who fear him; he hears their cries for help and rescues them.
20 The Lord protects all those who love him,……

Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)
20 Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

Psalm 84:11-12 (NKJV)
11 For the Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord will give grace and glory; No good thing will He withhold  From those who walk uprightly.
12 O Lord of hosts, Blessed is the man who trusts in You!

On yesterday afternoon I was out running some errands. I had been working all day and here it was 3p.m. and I had not had lunch.  I knew that I still had to go to the bank and to pick up a few items from the grocery store, so I decided to run through a fast food restaurant here in town and just get a chicken sandwich. It would be something quick that I could eat in the car, as I drove to my next stop.

I was having a rough day and I think mostly because I had experienced two nights back to back with my sleep being interrupted around 4 am on both nights.

It seemed that everything that I was trying to accomplish yesterday had a problem attached to it. I was sleepy, frustrated and exhausted all at the same time. I must say that the three of these things going on all at the same time, make for a terrible combination of issues. It seemed as though I was being forced to drag myself through the day.  I had just left a friend’s house and I had shared with her just how discombobulated I was feeling.

It is amazing how God always knows when you need to be encouraged. He knew that I definitely needed it after so much had gone wrong that day.
God also knows that I love it when He surprises me, and He did just that at the restaurant.

As I approached the restaurant to go through to the drive through window,  I was sitting in line and realized that I had used the last of my cash at the post office. I had my debit card with me but I try not to use it at fast food restaurants for security purposes.

At this particular restaurant if you have their app, your phone is swiped every time you make a purchase and eventually you earn something free from the menu. I remember saying “Lord if ever was there was a day that you would bless me with a free chicken sandwich today would be a great day to do that”. I kid you not when I opened my phone app to prepare to hand it to the person working at the drive through window, electronic confetti showed all over my phone screen.  Below the confetti were pictures of three different chicken sandwiches that I had to select from for Free that popped up on my screen.

I was blown away by God’s instant answer to my prayer.
Now of course, He does not always answer my prayers instantaneously, but He did this time. It was also a confirmation to me, that God hears every one of my prayers from the greatest to the trivial.  He can and will answer when the timing is right.

God knew that I needed to be encouraged that day, and that I just needed something good to happen at a time when everything else was going awry.

His timing was perfect, as it always is.

I have one last chicken sandwich story that I must share.  First of all isn’t it amazing how God can show His faithfulness to us through the most simplistic
ways.

About two years ago I was in a hurry as usual, and again I was in line at a drive through. After I paid for my food and drove off I became a little frustrated with myself, because I forgot to ask them to cut my sandwich in half.  I knew it would be easier to handle this way while I was driving.

When I finally got to a point that I could take my sandwich out, I opened the carton that it was in, and it had not only been cut into two pieces, but four pieces which made it totally manageable. This is not the way that their sandwiches are presented and I had totally forgotten that I was going to request that this be done to my sandwich. Something that simple revealed to me that God is concerned about every detail of my life and that He is concerned about everything that concerns me.

God was not finished yet!  That same day when I got home from work I could not believe my eyes. I had been craving egg rolls for weeks. When I got home my husband had been to the grocery store and was putting up groceries.  He was standing in the kitchen holding a package of egg rolls.

Now some of you are going to say what’s the big deal?  The big deal is that I have been married to my husband for twenty-three years and that is the only time in twenty-three years of marriage that he has ever brought egg rolls home. I don’t happen to think that it was a coincidence that at the same time I am craving egg rolls, he shows up with them. Especially since I had not mentioned in the least, that I wanted or was craving egg rolls.

Sometimes things happen in our lives and they make no sense to anyone else, but us.  We know that they are really God’s moments. People who don’t really believe in God’s power to work through every situation, label these occurrences as coincidences. I choose to call them Divine Interventions or Divine Appointments.

The way in which He revealed Himself to me in these simple moments demanded that I slow my pace down long enough to give Him a praise offering.

I was literally overwhelmed with gratitude. Who knew all of this could come from a simple chicken sandwich or a package of egg rolls.

On the lighter side of things, if you are reading this I am sure that I sound like someone who is totally addicted to food and there certainly may be some truth to that, but don’t miss the point.  The point is that God cares and He is more compassionate than we are capable of understanding. No problem is too small for Him to assist with.

It is amazing sometimes to me, how I can just have a thought or desire about something and God will bring it to fruition before I can even voice it in a prayer.

Maybe that’s because God is not just working in the answer but He also plants the desires in our hearts that are in accordance to His perfect and holy will.

When I told my girlfriend about my free chicken sandwich she said “you just have a direct line to Heaven don’t you”?  Her words stuck with me. My first thought was that we all have a direct line to Heaven if we are God’s children and we are choosing daily to walk with him.

Please be clear this does not mean God gives us everything that we ask for. It just means as His children we are positioned to receive the blessings he chooses to bestow on us at His discretion.  He graciously showers us with blessings not because of what we do but because of who He is. God loves lavishly pouring out His blessings on His children.

God has so much more for us than we could ever ask or imagine but it requires that we humbly submit to His authority.  There is no one as kind, generous and loving as the wonderful and awesome God that we serve.

Don’t just look for Him in the big things, but know that He is working in the small things just like He does the big ones.  I did not expect Him to reveal Himself at a fast food restaurant through a chicken sandwich, but He did.  His ways are far beyond mine and thank goodness that they are. I will gladly and gratefully accept His blessings however He chooses to present them to me.

What about you?

Psalm 37:4 (NKJV)
Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 69:30 (NKJV)
30 I will praise the name of God with a song, And will magnify Him with thanksgiving.

Psalm 68:19 (NKJV)
19 Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation!
