Part 1

Proverbs 31:26
“She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.”

Proverbs 10:32
“The lips of the righteous know what finds favor,
but the mouth of the wicked only what is perverse.”

Have you noticed that we women have an unlimited number of words that we speak each day, a treasure chest if you will of words. We have the ability to talk all day long and even into the night if necessary.

Most of us love to talk, or maybe I should speak for myself.  I enjoy a great conversation and a good laugh, and I bet most of you do too.  There is nothing wrong with that, after all God blessed us with this great and fun way to communicate. We as women are naturals at it. This is by His design also. Although this is a great thing, if we are not carful we can take something that was meant for good and turn it into a tool to work much evil. There are several ways in which our speech can be used, four of which are:

  1. To bless and encourage others.
  2. To teach and inform others.
  3. To have just general clean conversation (girl talk and sharing)
  4. To destroy or hurt another persons character or for negative and destructive purposes.

Our speech becomes a problem only when it is boastful, deceptive, or harmful to another or when we curse instead of bless with our tongue.

This small member of our body can be used to encourage or discourage.  This week as you speak with others, examine your conversations; are they going negative or positive. Are you blessing or cursing with your tongue?  We will go deeper into this conversation on our words and how we use them in next week’s lesson. Don’t forget start to pay attention to yourself and the conversations around you.

Ask yourself if Jesus were standing here would I be having this same conversation?

Guess what, he is standing right where you are, you just can’t see him, but He is there. Have a blessed week.

Matthew 12:33-37- 33
“Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit. 34 You brood of vipers, how can you who are evil say anything good? For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. 35 A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. 36 But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of  judgment for every empty word they have spoken. 37 For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
